Connect, Engage, Inspire
We trained Brixham Museum’s volunteers in radio production with a focus on gathering oral history interviews for a Heritage Lottery Funded “All Our Stories” project around local history and archeology at Berry Head. We then supported them in training Young Volunteers from their local youth community group, The Edge. We all attended an archaeological dig together at Berry Head where we also met a group of primary school children who were working with the museum on the project. They collected sounds and interviews which will form part of a feature which both teams of volunteers produced together.
-To involve children and volunteers in practise of excavating, recording, identifying and interpreting artefacts from a real local archaeological dig
-To collect and conserve archaeological evidence including oral history from local site of interest
-To create opportunities for children to relate artefacts and found objects as stimuli for learning about poetry and historical period (early victorian)
-To create saleable publication to sustain museum
-To develop museum's capacity to record, present and share audio evidence
