Sound Communities

Connect, Engage, Inspire

We have now completed Parkfield Xtreme Radio’s pilot year and we are delighted with it's success. We set up a broadcast studio  in Parkfield and worked with small groups of students who have been broadcasting now online for a year on a weekly basis. These broadcasts culminated in an exciting weekend FM broadcast at the end of May 2014. The online broadcasts will now continue as we have a sustainable partnership with Torbay Children's Services. To find out more go to our new website:

35 young people broadcast live over the weekend and we have developed partnerships with The Edge in Brixham, The Acorn Centre, Totally Teeangers at Foxhole, Healthwatch, Replay Team and Oldway School.

The project was funded by the National Lottery’s “Awards For All” funding.

We also won funding from the Youth Pot to run the outreach workshops in local community centres too.

Key Aims:

•To develop employability for young people

•To increase aspirations for young people

•To develop ICT, Literacy, communication and team working skills

•To reach out to hard to reach young people in the bay so that they can benefit from Parkfield’s resources

•To develop the cultural offer for young people in the bay and encourage then to stay
